About The Book
White Angel is a 127-page urban fantasy manga targeting a YA/Teen audience.
Sophiel is a freshly fallen angel with little knowledge of the world or even the reasons behind her sudden exile. Now her presence in the mortal world is awakening the supernatural one that had long ago faded to myth. As the warring demons and angels awaken, Sophiel must learn of her place in this world and what is truly worth fighting for.
White Angel was designed to be the start of a series of stories in the same urban fantasy world. It works as a stand-alone, but also sets up spin-off stories for several characters she encounters. Looking back there are definitely things I would change now that I’m “older and wiser” but this still remains a point of pride for having completed it.
Drawing for Print & Web
When creating White Angel, I really wanted it to follow the “manga standard” while also being readable as a webcomic, which lead me to utilizing Clip Studio’s screentone tools to shade and color the pages. The tools were not as robust as they are today, so a lot of finessing was requires to get the screen tones to render well for each print and web.

Here are the 1st 4 pages of the original b&w manga I drew. I still love drawing in black and white, but am looking forward to adding further depth with color in the upcoming reboot.
